The Sekondi Landing Beach Committee has raised GH¢126,000 towards community development within ten months, according to figures presented during the Premix Accountability Series in the Western Region.

The National Premix Fuel Secretariat has announced plans to scale up the Premix Accountability Series nationwide in early 2026, following what officials describe as a successful pilot in three Western Region communities.

For the first time in years, landing beach committees are standing before their own communities to explain how premix fuel proceeds have been managed, a development officials and fisherfolk alike are crediting to the accountability tone set under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

The National Premix Fuel Secretariat has renewed calls for full accountability of premix funds managed between 2017 and 2024, as fresh figures from the Sekondi Landing Beach Committee highlight the benefits of transparent management under the current system.

For years, the talk at many landing beaches has been the same: premix fuel comes, premix fuel finishes, and arguments begin—over how much was sold, how much profit was made, and most importantly, what happened to the money meant for the community.
